is it safe to leave my default post type as markdown even if I’m not using it in the post? not sure how it interacts with non-akkoma instances

@vn i zhink all posts end up as html in zhe api anyway? so it might just be setting how zhe post writing box interprets what you type

if you’re using mfm, akkoma instances see a nonstandard subset of it so it might look different on *key instances and on all others it’ll look the same as on akkoma minus the advanced features

@alterae @vn mfm isn’t really cursed but federating the source text was a mistake imo because now some non-misskey software parses it differently
federating the parsed AST would’ve been a more solid approach

@alterae @easrng @vn they'd still find a way to fuck it because every Misskey fork has different MFM and presumably different ASTs

@vyr @alterae @vn the only actual parser difference is [search], the english forks all require the brackets
they have different support but that is parsed the same way
The ast structure is the same for all of them
