oughh using mint on zhis laptop has convinced me to never use linux on anyzhing again

i do not have time to troubleshoot zhe computer i need to be busy actually using zhe computer

firefox has an update! i try to update it. zhe file doesnt exist on zhe mirror
no problem! i change mirror. firefox has a new different update. i click on it. zhe update manager freezes for 30 seconds, tells me i cant update it because its not updating snapd, and zhen completely freezes

if zhis amount of linux is too much for me on a computer i just use for a web browser, zheres no way id survive wizh my Actual Computer running zhis lol

@mynotaurus this is why rolling release distros are superior

@kyle_pegasus i mean zhis incredibly politely but if one more person goes "oh youre just not doing [random zhing i am assumed to know about] to make your computer work" i will commit several minor crimes

@mynotaurus but like mint shouldn't even have snapd, so something has gone sideways if snapd is stopping you updating firefox

(i am not going to diagnose the issue or try to convince you of an 'easy fix', i refuse to be a capital letters Linux User)

@irina i suspect zhats cause i switched mirrors but whatever mirror im using is Bad even though it was an option in zhe dropdown list i was given

@mynotaurus no like, it's not that at all. It's that Linux is not coherent enough to come prepackaged and still be good. Everyone who says it is, is lying

@kyle_pegasus @mynotaurus mostly i am frustrated with canonical in times like this because it's yet another example of ubuntu's usability having suffered for their insistence on replacing normal packages for commonly-used things with snaps

they've been breaking things and making things worse for end-users over a format war for shoving linux programs in whole-ass containers

if your computer hasn't decided to forcibly lock you out of your user folder for no reason are you really alive tbh

this is how I find out linux mint also uses snaps
