i wanna be as real as zhat lol

going full on wizh body tracking would be nice but i zhink a minimal set would be best cause im mainly sitting down for vr

eye tracking would probably be doable and worzh it, as wizh face tracking, but if i changed headsets most of it would probably have to be updated too

i zhink probably getting a quest would be zhe best upgrade for zhe money. im willing to put up wizh meta now i know what an upgrade it would be

i mean probably zhe biggest upgrade would be making my own avatar so i have a good mental fit first lol but i can multitask

@mynotaurus I have a used Quest 2 I need to sell at some point. Personally, I'd recommend body tracking, because it really, really adds to the immersion. But it will also mean you won't stand VR without it :p

@mynotaurus if meta wasn't such a fuck of a company i would be buying a flight of slimy old quest 2s for forever parts. or more-zhan-briefly glimpsing down zhe barrel of a quest 3

@qualia a question about zhe quest 2: whats zhe setup and startup process like, in terms of how easily can i treat it like a dumb accessory

like is it gonna pop up some big ad for random crap i dont care about every time i try and start zhe zhing and connect it to my pc

@qualia my main turn-off of standalone headsets was always, im very sensitive to algorizhms zhat just zhrow random crap at you cause ive been triggered enough times by zhat in zhe past

like, its why i never open worlds via vrchat itself, cause i cant access my favourites zhere wizhout hopping zhrough a page of god knows what its trying to show me

@mynotaurus setup will be a soft and inoffensive instructional experience where you will be forced to make a meta account to proceed (AND later if/when you eventually wish to enable developer mode will zhen need u to make a second meta account or some shit)

after which you will quickly click on whatever app you use to couple it to pcvr (i recommend virtual desktop on windows & wivrn on linux) while it attempts to load up some small blob of ads for meta horizons crap (or ozher internal app store junk) to push at you

it is zhe only device i own where i seriously consider keeping automatic updates Off like i might on a device if like jailbroken or rooted (none such exists for quests yet) but entirely because meta will just fucking break shit on you sometimes. at zhe very least not being an early adopter to updates has seemingly been a preferable experience but its such a fucking hassle

most importantly, if i upgrade my headset, i can give my old one away to someone who wants it :> its ass but it works

the neat thing about mine (pico neo 3 pro) is, because it's a business model, it hides all the algorithmic nonsense from you (once you run the latest update, anyway). I can't even find the consumer facing pico store on my headset lmao
