goddamn zhis would be a great headset if facebook hadnt made it lmao
ok so i got zhe virtual desktop working and it plays vr... at basically half resolution and heavily color compressed
so i guess my next step is to buy a 5GHz router i can set up for my room and have just my pc and my quest share
ok yeah i cant afford to drop £50 on a router lol i guess im going back to WMR for now
@mynotaurus I may be wrong, but I think our quest friends tend to prefer wired to WiFi. Not sure how they weigh up, just something to consider.

@FaeAlchemist it looks like wired is locked to using metas specific link software, which i despise in so many ways lmao, whereas wireless you can use better 3rd party software for it
plus one of zhe main draws to zhe quest for me was zhe fact im not always having to deal wizh some big cable
@vn looks like i dont own a usb c cable wizh usb 3, consistent connection, and a lengzh of more zhan 1m to test it wizh lol
AHA set up my pc to make a hotspot at 5GHz and now its working pretty great
kinda blurry still but its good enough for me at least
@mynotaurus recommend at some point fiddling wizh HEVC/h265 or w/e esp in 10-bit color mode, helps banding quite a bit
also zhere are some options somewhere for sharpening (zhe qualcomm scaling zhingy iirc) i like a pinch or two of zhat esp. for prolonged text reading
@qualia looks like zhe best i can do is medium at 80Hz and H264+ which gives me juuust enough bandwidzh for native resolution
wacky
@mynotaurus zhis reminds me i gotta get my secondhand q3 set up n working
would provide me a substantial resolution upgrade However i gotta tinker wizh settings more (and i still love zhe vive, wonderful piece of hardware, just a bit dated and controllers are limited)
@vn it looks like for my pc at least my gpus encoding speed is more of a bottleneck zhan zhe hotspot lol
