i think using an Old Computer for once might be radicalizing me a little bit

@alterae usually using an Old Computer brings back the, uh, whatever the opposite of nostalgia is, for me. glad it's hitting different for you!

@vn i mean it helps that the software i'm using on it mostly runs quite well and has barely changed since my youth and has been genuinely excellent software that whole time
i'd be a lot less happy if the machine were running windows lmao

like holy crap hardware really has gotten better
but also holly crap some of the software has gotten _worse_ (and some has gotten better ofc it's just less uncomfortably noticeable)

really giving me a sense of what programs are actually fast, and what programs i've just been spoiled by the ability to throw compute at
