@vn facebook is burning so much money that nobody is actually in a position to compete with them. there have been persistent rumors that valve is trying but that might still be another year or two before it materializes

@vn though also who knows if "competing" means "a direct index successor that isn't far worse by every metric than meta's headsets that cost less than half as much" or "a quest 3 competitor at the same price point"
